Blencowe regrettably pulls out from the SEAT Cupra Championship
Alan Blencowe has regrettably had to hang up his racing boots, with only 3 rounds left in the
Championship, due to lack of financial backing for the remainder of the racing-season.
Currently running 0.5 points behind second-place man in the championship, and with 2 wins and 4 podium
places already this season, Alan was looking like he would comfortably win second place in the drivers
championship and secure an important British Touring Car test with the SEAT BTC race-team.
"I am absolutely gutted that I can't continue especially as we are so close to the end of the season,
and I would have loved to have battled it out in the final rounds of the championship, but
unfortunately I have run out of sponsorship money and I needed quite a bit more to finish the season.
It just wasn't financially viable for me to continue."
"The last minute deal that enabled us to run this year, really was last-minute and I was only ever
set-up with enough money to see me running for only half the season, but I managed to get further
which was an achievement!"
"I'm looking on the bright-side though - I have already started putting things into place for next year
and I'm looking forward to it! Having to finish early hasn't dampened my spirits!"
The decision was made late Friday afternoon after assessing the damage bill from Snetterton, damage
that was inflicted by the pole-sitter being allowed to start the race with a faulty car, which
resulted in 7 cars directly behind the pole-sitter crashing into each other and unfortunately, Alan
was regrettably one of them.
"I would like to say a massive thank-you to all my sponsors that have made it possible for me to race
this season and I am only sorry that I can't continue to the very end."
