Blencowe secures his drive for 2007 and part-funding thanks to local sponsors and support
Alan Blencowe will be racing in 2007 in the new SEAT Leon Cupra race car - this car differs from the 2006 model as the 2007-spec Leon Cupra features the new turbocharged 2.0-litre FSI engine, modified to give 300bhp. This is mated to a paddle-shift DSG gearbox with an integral limited slip differential and the car features a full aerodynamic package, including a flat floor and rear diffuser.
Alan will start an intensive test programme next week before the mandatory test ban comes into force on 18 March at Midnight in preparation for the first round of the championship on April 01 at Brands Hatch.
"I’m really looking forward to start testing the new car next week. I’m racing again with the same team as last year, Triple R. I was really pleased with the way that the car was prepared last year and with the team structure, and I’m hoping that we can enjoy the same success as last year."
"Testing is going to be quite intensive, the last minute deal means that there is going to be quite a bit of pressure to get the most time out of the new car – but either way I’m looking forward to it!"
2006 witnessed Alan being crowned 2nd in the Championship and securing a test within the SEAT Sports factory run BTCC Touring Car at an exclusive test.
"The SEAT Sport UK team were very impressed with Alan’s performance not only at this test, but also with his performance throughout the season. If he continues to develop he has a very good future ahead of him." Scott Dennis, Team Manager, SEAT Sport UK.
Alan would like to say thank you to Adept and Blencowe Scaffolding, Martin and Co. Chartered Accountants and Toogood Developments for their sponsorship support enabling him to start on the race grid on 01 April.
